Manitoba’s Graduate Internship Pathway for International Student Graduates

For anyone considering a Master’s or PhD in Canada, it’s important to understand the program of study, the institution of study, as well as the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) available in the province of study.

The Manitoba PNP Graduate Internship Pathway is designed for recent graduates of master and doctoral programs in Manitoba who have also completed internships contributing to industry innovation in Manitoba.

The Graduate Internship Pathway - An Overview

The Graduate Internship Pathway is one of three International Student Streams under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).

Accelerate and Elevate Internships with Mitacs

To qualify for the Graduate Internship Pathway, candidates need to complete either an Accelerate or Elevate internship through Mitacs, a nationally recognized research organization. These internships involve collaboration with Manitoba-based industry partners, enhancing industry-academic cooperation.

Eligibility and Nomination

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Graduate Internship Pathway, candidates must meet specific requirements:

Education: Completion of a master's or doctoral degree program from a recognized Manitoba post-secondary institution within the last three years.

Internship: Successful participation in an Accelerate or Elevate internship with Mitacs in Manitoba.

Language: Proficiency in either official languages (English or French) to meet or exceed the CLB/NCLC 5 or higher.

Residency: Residency in Manitoba at the time of application. You must show the intent to continue to reside in Manitoba after nomination, including the submission of a Career Employment Plan demonstrating opportunities for a successful career track in Manitoba. Anyone nominated through a PNP is expected to reside in the province for at least five years after becoming a PR.

Immediate Nomination

One of the most appealing features of the Graduate Internship Pathway is that successful graduates can apply for the MPNP immediately after graduation. No job offer is required!

Manitoba’s Skilled Worker Stream

●      Introduction to the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Pathway

While the Graduate Internship Pathway caters to master's and doctoral graduates, the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway is another option for international students seeking permanent residency in Manitoba. This pathway is suitable for those who are working in the province, even if they didn't complete their studies there.

 ●      Eligibility for International Graduates

International students who have graduated in another Canadian province or are not working in an in-demand occupation may still be eligible to apply under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway. The primary requirement is obtaining a job offer from a Manitoba employer.
